How AutoSP works

AutoSP gets you AWS’s 3-year Savings Plan rates without a 3-year commitment. Here is how it works, what it costs, what Bespin can access, and answers to the questions buyers ask.

How it works

  1. Connect your AWS Organization

Someone in your team runs one command in AWS CloudShell in the management account. It creates one OU, Bespin-AutoSP, and two IAM roles. Bespin sees billing and usage data, never your workloads or data.

  2. Bespin buys 3-year Savings Plans

Bespin buys them in its own AWS accounts, places those accounts in the Bespin-AutoSP OU, and carries the commitment. Your commitment is $0.

  3. AWS applies them to your usage

The discount shows directly on your AWS bill. Bespin rebalances every week as your usage changes, and takes commitment back out when usage drops.

  4. You pay 25% of what you save

After each month closes, Bespin charges 25% of the net savings, so you keep 75%. In a month with no savings, the fee is $0.

Why the savings are real

Lower bills with no commitment can sound too good to be true. This is where the savings come from, who carries the risk, and what protects you.

The discount is AWS's own
AWS gives its deepest Savings Plan discounts for a 3-year commitment. AutoSP gets you those 3-year rates on a month-to-month plan.
Bespin carries the commitment
Bespin owns the Savings Plans and the accounts that hold them. Your commitment is $0, and if you leave, Bespin keeps the plans and you owe nothing for them.
Bespin is paid only from savings
The fee is 25% of the net savings Bespin's plans produce. Savings from your own Savings Plans or RIs never count toward it, and a month with no savings costs nothing.
You're covered if a plan costs more
If Bespin's Savings Plans ever cost more than the same usage at on-demand rates, Bespin credits you the difference on that month's statement.
You can leave at any time
AutoSP is month to month. Cancel with 30 days' notice and no exit fee.
AWS experts run it
Bespin Global is an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and the 2023 AWS Global MSP Partner of the Year, with more than 5,000 customers worldwide.

What Bespin can access

The setup command is a CloudFormation stack, bespin-autosp. You can read its template before you run it. It creates:

  • Organizational unitBespin-AutoSP

Holds Bespin's own Savings Plan accounts. Empty of your accounts.

  • IAM roleBespinAutoSPBilling

Reads billing and usage from Cost Explorer in your management account.

  • IAM roleBespinAutoSPAttach

Moves Bespin's own accounts into and out of the Bespin-AutoSP OU.

It can’t

  • Read or change workloads or data in any account
  • Create, change or delete resources outside the Bespin-AutoSP OU
  • Move, invite or remove your accounts

Delete the bespin-autosp stack after Bespin confirms offboarding. Until then, keep the OU and roles in place. Removing them early means fees and Savings Plan charges continue until detachment is complete. Need a security review or questionnaire? Ask Bespin.

Questions

Getting started

  • If we sign up today, when do we start seeing savings?

Setup takes minutes. Once your AWS Organization is connected and a payment method is saved, Bespin places the first Savings Plans as soon as it has seen your usage pattern, usually within a week. The savings then show directly on your AWS bill.

  • We don't use Control Tower. Does this work for us?

Yes. You need an AWS Organization and someone who can run one command in AWS CloudShell in its management account. If you do use Control Tower, or have no Organization, a Bespin engineer sets AutoSP up with you instead.

  • What do we need before we start?

Your company's legal name and billing details, your AWS Organization ID and management account ID, someone who can use AWS CloudShell in the management account, and a card or US bank account for automatic payment. Nothing is charged when you save it. Bespin can invoice you monthly instead, on request and with its approval.

Section 8 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Can we see what we'd save first?

Yes. Upload an AWS bill or enter a few numbers in the calculator. No sign-up, contact details or AWS connection needed. The bill is read in your browser and never sent to Bespin.

Section 11 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Do we need a call with sales?

No. You can sign up, accept the terms and connect on your own. If you'd like help, ask for it at any step and a Bespin engineer will contact you within one business day.

The commitment and the risk

  • Who carries the commitment?

Bespin does. Bespin buys and holds the Savings Plans in its own AWS accounts, placed in your Organization. Your commitment is $0, and if you leave you owe nothing for the plans Bespin holds.

Section 3 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Why not buy our own Savings Plans?

You can, but then you carry the term. The deepest discounts need a 3-year commitment, and usage is hard to predict that far ahead. With AutoSP, Bespin buys the 3-year plans and carries the term, rebalances every week as your usage changes, and takes commitment back out when usage drops. You get 3-year rates, month to month.

  • Is anything pooled with other customers?

No. Each Bespin Savings Plan account is dedicated to one customer at a time.

  • What if our usage drops?

Bespin rebalances at least weekly and takes commitment back out as usage falls. If you plan to cut eligible usage by 25% or more, or to buy your own Savings Plans or RIs, tell Bespin 30 days ahead under Planned changes.

Section 5 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Are the savings guaranteed?

No. Coverage and savings depend on your usage and on AWS pricing. What is fixed: Bespin's fee is a share of net savings, so Bespin is paid only when you save, and if its Savings Plans ever cost more than the same usage at on-demand rates, Bespin credits you the difference. Section 7 of the terms lists the few exceptions.

Section 7 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Do our own Savings Plans and FinOps tools keep working?

Yes. Bespin never buys, sells or changes your own Savings Plans or RIs, and savings from them are never counted toward the fee. Your FinOps tools keep working and see the lower bill.

Section 3 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

Pricing and billing

  • What does it cost?

25% of net savings, charged after each month closes, so you keep 75%. In a month with no savings the fee is $0. There's no card surcharge.

Section 6 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Why do Savings Plan charges show on our AWS bill?

Bespin's accounts sit in your Organization, so AWS bills their Savings Plans there. If those plans ever cost more than the same usage at on-demand rates, Bespin credits you the difference.

Section 7 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • How current are the numbers?

Usage updates daily from AWS Cost Explorer. A month's figures and fee are final when AWS closes that month's billing, usually by the 5th.

Section 6 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Can the fee change?

Only with at least 30 days' notice, and a new rate applies only to months that start after it takes effect. You can cancel before then.

Section 6 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • What if we think a statement is wrong?

Tell Bespin within 30 days of the statement's date and say why. The undisputed amount is still charged, and agreed corrections appear on your next statement.

Section 8 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • What happens if a payment fails?

Bespin retries it and tells your admins and billing contact. If an amount is more than 15 days past due, Bespin may add a late fee of 1.5% a month and pause new purchases and rebalancing.

Section 8 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

Access and data

  • What can Bespin access?

One OU, Bespin-AutoSP, and two IAM roles: one reads billing and usage data, the other moves Bespin's own accounts into and out of that OU. Bespin can't read or change your workloads or data, or move your accounts.

Section 4 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • What if the connection to AWS breaks?

Bespin tells your admins and billing contact by email and in the portal, at least three times over at least 10 business days, and helps you restore it. While access is down, Bespin can't rebalance. If access isn't restored within 10 business days of the final notice, Bespin may end the agreement and remove its accounts.

Section 4 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Can Bespin change its access?

Bespin may update the setup when AutoSP or AWS changes, with at least 30 days' notice. An update that widens Bespin's access needs your written consent.

Section 4 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • What happens to our data when we leave?

Within 90 days after your end date, Bespin deletes identifiable customer data, except records it must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.

Section 11 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

Leaving and changes

  • How do we leave?

Cancel any time from Billing, with 30 days' notice and no exit fee. Coverage may step down during those 30 days as Bespin winds down. Keep the bespin-autosp stack until Bespin confirms offboarding by email.

Section 9 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • How do we remove Bespin's access later?

Delete the bespin-autosp stack after Bespin confirms offboarding. Until then, keep the OU and roles in place. Removing them early means fees and Savings Plan charges continue until detachment is complete.

Section 9 of the terms (opens in a new tab)

  • Can the terms change?

Bespin gives at least 30 days' notice by email and in the portal. If a change is materially worse for you, you can cancel before it takes effect, and the earlier terms apply until your end date.
